Intellectual property

The editorial content of the site (texts, breed profiles, methodology) belongs to the publisher and is subject to the provisions of the French intellectual property code. Any reproduction, even partial, without prior written authorization is prohibited.

Explicitly authorized exceptions:

  • Short quotation (article, blog, thesis) with the mention "Source: DogMatch" and a hyperlink to the source page.
  • Non-commercial educational reuse (course, lecture) with attribution to the publisher.

The source code of the site and of the matching algorithm is proprietary and is not distributed publicly. Any reproduction, decompilation or extraction of the logic without prior written authorization is prohibited.

Dog breed names and standards are public reference data from the FCI, the SCC and the AKC. No trademark or logo belonging to those organizations is used on the site.

Terms of use

DogMatch provides an orientation tool for informational purposes. The rankings it offers are in no way veterinary advice, behavioral advice, or individualized adoption guidance. The publisher cannot be held liable for adoption or purchase decisions made on the basis of the quiz results.

For any adoption decision, users are invited to consult a professional breeder, a veterinarian or a qualified dog trainer. The site declines all responsibility regarding the health, the behavior or the suitability of a specific dog for the user's household.

Hyperlinks

The site contains links to other websites (FCI, SCC, AKC, Wikipedia, and others). The publisher has no control over the content of those third-party sites and cannot be held liable for their content, the advertising they display or the cookies they set.

Creating a link to DogMatch from another site does not require prior authorization. However, any link that creates confusion about the source or suggests a partnership that does not exist may be subject to a takedown request.

Affiliate links

Some pages of the site contain affiliate links (in particular to Amazon Associates, Awin and its partner merchants such as Zooplus, Maxi Zoo and Pepette, as well as SantéVet for connecting users with pet health insurance comparison services). When you make a purchase or request a quote through those links, DogMatch earns a commission, at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, DogMatch earns from qualifying purchases.

Those commissions help fund the site and do not influence the editorial content: the matching methodology and the breed scoring are independent of any commercial partnership. No merchant pays to appear in the quiz results.

Every affiliate link is flagged with the HTML attribute rel="sponsored", in line with Google's recommendations and with the transparency obligation set out in article L.111-7 of the French consumer code. An explicit "Affiliate links" mention accompanies each block concerned.

Third-party cookies: clicking an affiliate link may cause the destination merchant (Amazon, Awin, and others) to set a tracking cookie on its own domain. DogMatch itself sets no cookie in your browser. The privacy policies of the partner merchants apply as soon as you leave this site.

Commercial partnerships

DogMatch is open to commercial partnerships compatible with its editorial line. Enquiries are reviewed case by case through the contact page.

Accepted formats:

  • Sponsorship of a newsletter or of a statistical barometer (disclosed native integration)
  • Passive advertising slot on content pages (excluding the quiz and the results page)
  • Market study or co-branded report based on anonymized data
  • Acquisition offer for the site, or licensing of the technology
  • Anonymized data partnerships with serious players in the pet market

Categorically refused:

  • Inserting a brand or a breeder into the quiz's algorithmic ranking
  • Paid reviews presented as neutral editorial content
  • Link exchanges, SEO guest posts, link farms or PBN networks
  • Any sponsorship without explicit disclosure
  • Black-hat SEO outreach (DR boosting, aggressive link building, spammy AI content)

Invariant ethical frame: the matching algorithm stays independent of any partnership. No brand, no breeder and no insurer pays to appear in the quiz results or to influence the scoring of a breed. The recommendations shown on the site are determined solely by public data (FCI, SCC, AKC) and by the public methodology.

Personal data

The processing of personal data is covered by a dedicated policy detailed in the privacy policy, compliant with the GDPR (EU regulation 2016/679).
